Company History

Larson Transfer & Storage Company was started in the early 1930s as a local cartage company. In the 1960s it expanded to a small contract carrier serving Minnesota.

In 1971, we established an employee leasing business, Labor Services Company, catering to the needs of the transportation industry, specifically private carriers. In the mid-1970s, we established a second driver leasing company, Midwest Driver Corporation, to serve the needs of unionized private carriers. Around the same time, we brought all of these companies under the umbrella of Physical Distribution Services, Incorporated.

Since Larson Transfer & Storage Company was a unionized operation, we could not compete after deregulation occurred in 1980. Because of that, in the mid-1980s we established Allstate Delivery Service to bid on business we were unable to approach through Larson Transfer & Storage Company.

As deregulation began to affect private carriers we were able to provide a cost effective way to handle their transportation needs. Both Labor Services Company and Allstate Delivery Service expanded as a result.

We currently have staffed offices in Minneapolis, MN and Indianapolis, IN and employees in 13 states, including mechanics and general servicemen in addition to truck drivers.
